Earth - That which continually asserts itself within perception. We seem to have hands, and even social-security-numbers. Earth as repetition, being that which is solid, is (ironically) the most contingent element. The rest are types of difference:
Water - recombination. amniotic fluid. genetics. the bumping-into-each-other of past events in the continued flow of time. fertilization/reuptake of waste.
Air - drift. in other words: mismatch. spatiality. un-crossable distances, untranslatability, missed connections. access protocol. pain. separation. dissociation.
Fire - expenditure. consumption. conversion-processes. waste. excess.

Sugar subverts and deconstructs the above dichotomies: Has properties of both masculinity and femininity as a literal energy source for life. Evades warm/cool by being highly-experience compatible in the one sense but maintaining mysterious tensions (is consciousness epiphenomenal? how can a chemical produce qualia? yummy but unhealthy!). Is also hyper-child, both in its coding (vibe), and its direct love affair with the subject, continuing the genealogy dialectic towards the grand-child.
with additional funding, i will conduct a similar assault on the zodiac by multiplying this set with the cardinal-fixed-mutable trinity, probably refencing salt/mercury/sulfur, or something.
